inspired by Katsushika HOKUSAI’s manga collections, which explore whimsical and observational drawing, i’m bad w/ words contains illustrations from three sketchbooks which were filled over the course of the year.
the presented pieces exhibit a range of completed and unfinished work, w/ the intention being to document my ideas in the most direct and responsive way I know how, and ultimately catalogue them for future reference.
the body of work emphasises the immediacy of drawing as a medium:
where mark-making and the use of simple, low-resistance materials allows for ideas to be captured quickly and authentically.
